The game Sushi Senso, meaning ’sushi war‘, challenges the players to construct variations of colourful Sushi arrangements with wooden stones. The players need to act with speed, have distinct visual imagination and a good handling of chopsticks to win the game.
The game addresses the interaction between the players as well as the training of motor skills. Using coloured wooden building blocks, the game involves the player into most basic and intuitive actions. Nevertheless, it doesn’t become boring due to permanently changing variations and the parallel activity of the players in each round.
The goal of this project was to create a game made of wood which fascinates children as well as adults, entertains the players and trains their motor skills. Introducing Sushi to the game idea induced the positive connotation of enjoying food and communicating while eating together. The colouring and the game setting were chosen to support this feeling.
