Flair focuses on the changing needs and requirements of public seating by allowing users to access a seat whenever they need one. It is attached flat to walls and can be unfold by detaching one side and pushing the chair together.
Flair is made of a single sheet of polypropylene with four live hinges that build a durable folding mechanism. Polypropylene provides the necessary fatigue resistance and flexibility for producing live hinges as well as allowing the seat to bend in a stable, yet comfortable swing-like shape. Apart from the mechanical properties, polypropylene is suitable for the use in public spaces as it is highly durable and easy to clean. Being white and slightly translucent in its natural state, this property of polypropylene is used to highlight the attachment in a subtle way. The attachment is made of a metal structure with an included hanging mechanism that is colored in a dark canary yellow. The yellow attachment shimmers through the white of the polypropylene and attracts the attention of the user and communicates the possibility to detach and unfold the chair when needed.
